Thanks for the info. I've just tried that (chattr). It may make a small difference, but really not much help overall. Something else is still going on.
I'm beginning to wonder if LVM is the issue. FC6 does that by default and I understand there is some CPU overhead involved. My music drive is not LVM (since I simply moved it from the other PC after the new OS install) so it is mounted as a conventional /dev/hdc1 device mixed in with the LVM volumes. I'm thinking I may just reinstall the OS without LVM as an experiment, but I'm going to do a bit more research at fedoraforum.org first. If you think of anything else, let me know otherwise I'll report back here as I continue to experiment. -- mlsstl ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mlsstl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9598 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32295 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
