I'm not a slimserver developer but I've posted patches so I know the routine.
I need to go back over subversion to check but this is my theory. Over the last few releases, more and more code has been changed over to be "async". I think the routine in question was made async for the web interface but it wasn't noticed that it was called during init since there were no problems.
