Yes, you will lose the ability to use Buffalo's browser tools to configure the LinkStation Pro. On the other hand, with FreeLink you gain the ability to make the device do anything within its hardware capabilities. (Buffalo's native operating system severely restricts what you can do, in the name of making it easy to perform a limited set of tasks. FreeLink removes such restrictions, but requires more advanced skills to take advantage of that freedom.) What type of things are you looking to configure?
