I had the same issue with 7.0.1 on Ubuntu Hardy. Uninstalled Apparmor, rebooted, uninstalled and re-installed 7.0.1...Still no joy.
My solution? Uninstalled Squeezecenter, removed all Squeezecenter files and directories and reinstalled 7.0.0, Now it starts but the controller just hangs switching from Artists to Albums. So I've factory reset the controller and re-applied the 7.0.0 firmware to the controller. Everything is good again now.
