I have never been able to get Squeezecenter to work on Ubuntu after having tried it in all versions from mainstream 8.4 through the current 8.10. I don't know if its been the same errors throughout, but the consistent symptom has been that I have never been able to access SC through the web interface. Current setup and errors are as follow: -Ubuntu 8.10(intrepid) Kernel Linux 2.6.27-10-generic -Gnome 2.24.1 -SC 7.3~24151 -All firewalls removed/deactivated -Apparmor deactivated -I have run the Intrepid fix noted on the SC website: apt-get install libgd-gd2-perl and it seems to have had no effect. -I have SC autostarting through an entry in the sessions control - that seems to work fine.
All attempts to connect to SC through the web via local host, my computer's actual IP or the loopback 127.0.0.1 IP give a fail to connect error. Other local host functions (like CUPS) work just fine. Here is the last few entries from the SC log file. The rest of the log mirrors this error set every few seconds: 2008-11-29 10:47:50 SqueezeCenter died. Restarting.
