Softsqueeze seems to work OK for most users on most systems.
Your problem sounds like one that user mkanet has when playing music services such as Sirius or Slacker. Are you playing ordinary audio files from SBS are are you playing songs from music services provided by MySB through SBS ? There are a few bugs in Softsqueeze and one timing one has similar symptoms to your problem - however it is very hard to reproduce.
