Good news that it works for you. Do you have the usb port set to 1.1 speed (dwc_otg.speed=1)? The wider issue is support of 1.1 devices while running the port at 480M which can cause some packets to get lost occasionally - this is the "split transaction issue" discussed on the pi forum here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=219188#p219188.
