I bought a second Wandboard to give to a friend. While configuring
CSOS, I tried HDMI on both receivers. This time out, the older TX-NR906
didn't work at all (nothing but silence) while the newer TX-NR5008 again
would only report a 48k sampling rate.

My suspicion now is that the Wandboard is simply not built for reliable
audio output via HDMI, but given that no one else responded to my
original post, I also suspect that this simply isn't an issue for most.
