Interesting... By replacing "sysdefault" with "hw" I can now upsample without overloading the Pi. Upsampling to 176k (from 44.1) uses just 20% CPU. More testing required, but this looks good. I haven't actually listened to the output yet, not at home right now, I hope I did not frighten my wife too much by turning the radio on and off... ;-)
