The "save to USB" approach is not going to backup your piCorePlayer image. It is simply a method to save your config file with the new name: newconfig.cfg on the USB stick. So if you then boot a fresh copy of pCP with the USB inserted it should read the "newconfig.cfg" file so that you have e new pCP with your current setup.
