PiZ: I find the WiFi better than expected - for me it works from the bottom of the garden to the bottom of the drive, and every room in the house (and the loft). (Single draytek access point, fwiw.) Creating an image with pre-configured WiFi to flash onto the SD card is pretty straightforward too. But the lack of USB means clumsy break out cables if there's anything you need to connect that way.
