Be sure to turn the voltage down before using new cable(s) 5.5v as Paul
says, is too much.
Becuase of your thin cables the Pi probably won't be seeing the 5.5v but
with thicker cables it well might, it could be the end for your Pi if it
does.

I use the I/O pins to power my Pi's and the screen from the I/O also I
use 0.75mm^2 wire for these and the PSU (Meanwell RS-15-5) set to 5.00
V
I never see the "Spark"
