I hope you get a proper esponse from a developer. This is just my 10
cents, as a user.

I think that your chance of other file system support in piCorePlayer is
close to zero because piCorePlayer is meant to be a minimal system.

piCore is based on Tiny Core and you might be able to implement HFS+
support if you do the legwork yourself:

Other option is to have your Macbook support the piCorePlayer file
format (EXT4 ?). IMHO this would be a much better solution for you.
