I changed the output device under Squeezelite to 'Generic/simple TI5102 DAC' and now it's working properly. The output setting now shows 'equal', and the sliders work as expected. The only oddity is that under 'Audio Tweaks', it is still saying that the equaliser device is 'hw:CARD=sndrpihifiberry,DEV=0'.
I clearly have some testing to do, but it looks as though this could be an issue with the HiFiBerry device?
