I purchased this Mersus amp hoping that it would work with the new PcP, and it did :). https://www.infineon.com/cms/en/product/evaluation-boards/ref_audio_d_ma12070p/ It took a while before I realized that the DEV=0 was missing on the end of hw:CARD=sndrpimerusamp,DEV=0. Did you set the AlsaMixer master volume to zero, set the player volume to 100%, then bump up the master volume until you hear music? At 33% it got pretty loud! At 100% it may shut down.
