By way of a little update on this project which may help others.
With continued bench testing I was beginning to find problems with pCP getting a Wi-Fi connection during boot. It was getting more and more unreliable even though the access point is less than 2m away. The logs showed that it could see the AP but just not connect having issues renewing its lease. I was beginning to think that I had damaged the board in some way because I could not figure out why it would work and then get worse. A thought was to modify the board to add the U.FL socket and use an external antenna which I have done with my main HiFi player as it is mounted in a Ali chassis. If you look at the setup once its all bolted together the PCB Wi-Fi antenna on the pi is buried with the cable to the LCD on the screen running nearby together with the DSI cable. Before I committed to hacking the Pi I had one last thing to try. I placed a layer of Kapton tape over the screen, then copper tape which was grounded to the Pi together with another insulation layer of Kapton tape and bingo it works reliably again. 31033 31032 31031 31034 +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Filename: IMG_6563.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=31034| +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ garym999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4943 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112528 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
