I have a pCP with an NFS mount to a Qnap - I have only ever had to
declare the pCP Ip address in the NFS settings nothing else. I would
have thought that a Synology is pretty much the same.

AFAIK the admin user of the Qnap is equivalent to root in UID terms -
isn't the tc user also equivalent to root on a pCP in UID terms?
