I'm just giving you some options to try. I can't fix the direction RPi has taken the HDMI stuff. They are transitioning to upstream kernel drivers, as it requires less work for them in the long haul.
HDMI audio is likely to be tricky for a while. I know the next kernel 5.10 has even more changes. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM.
