I vaguely remember having discussed the risk of those filehandles in your AAC seeking PR. Could there be an issue that sometimes we store a reference to it outside the track object? Thus it doesn't get freed when the track is destroyed?

That said, this doesn't really explain the claim that the memory usage would increase massively with things like DSD.
