I think the dac / amp is not being recognised correctly. Maybe it is expecting an on-the go device to be plugged in and not a raspberry pi. It says in the blurb that one can connect a smart phone by the usb (which is a different connector than normal for a dac) so maybe it is a "smart" connector. Have you tried using a phone ?
