Thanks for the tip but it didn't work.

I set XPostFacto 2.2b7 to full 24 throttle but nevertheless the 
8600/XLR8 G4 450 switched to 9.1 instead of 10.1.4 upon cold boot. I 
can cold boot via the internal SCSI so there is some incompatibility 
between XLR8 and Sonnet Tempo ATA100.

Sonnet support claimed that the fault is at XLR8:
