For this I'd say yep, do it. I have a fully up to date copy of OS X 10.1.4 running on my 7300 (in fact this email was factored in it using Eudora 5.1b23 OS X) and it seems as solid as a rock apart from the fact it's damn slow (64MB RAM and 2MB VRAM isn't helping here!!) and the USB and FireWire cards don't get on too well.
