Hi again,
Following my success from getting a replacement card for the faulty
Powerlogix Powerforce G3/400 from OWC, I ordered another from them at the
request of a friend.
This one appeared DOA in about 7 machines I tried it in for him,
but after requesting a return number from Powerlogix, I happebned to flip
the card over & found a very tiny piece of manufacturing resin across one
of the gold contact 'fingers' on the heatsink side that sits in the
processor slot.
I scratched that off with my thumbnail & refitted the card to a
known working machine - presto! Worked fine.
Just in case anyone comes across one that seems dead, this might be
useful info. The force of fitting it to the slot didn't make any impression
on the resin, it needed to be physically scratched off. Hope this is useful
- probably one in a million.
Bye for now, Terry Allen
