Hi again...now that I've been informed that there is no way possible to boot an external FireWire on these old machines, even with 9.x, I'm wondering if someone would explain why this is impossible in a more technical way. I'm guessing this is even impossible on pre built in firewire Macs as well as the clones.
I've heard something about it having to do with the motherboard "gestalt" (if that's the right word) but if someone can explain this to me in layman's terms, I would be better informed. The stubborn geek in me has me wanting to experiment with loading special extensions first, etc etc and building a custom boot sequence in the system folder to make hardware recognizable out of the gate. I really don't want to be trying this if it's actually NEVER possible it will EVER boot, no matter what. Please inform.
