Hi,

I am using a Apus 3000 (=c600) machine with a G3 Zif upgrade and try
to install MacOS 10 with the help of XPostFacto. Yes, I know that
these machines are currently not supported but on zone6400 someone
wrote that he succeeded in installing it on his machine and as the
c600s are Umax clones of the 6400s I thought I give it another try.
With my first attempts I got as far as "Still waiting for root
device". This is, according to Ryan Rempel, due to problems with the
CD drive. In fact, I had disconnected all SCSI devices, after copying
the install CD to a partition of my IDE drive and doing the install
from that partition. After reading the report at zone6400, I thought
that simply copying might have been the mistake as he had used
Apple`s software restore. So I did the same: making an exact clone of
the install CD on my second partition and starting the installation
process anew, all other things equal (disconnecting SCSI devices,
pulling out USB-card).
However, now I do not get as far as even before. Already after the
command "boot" in the firmware prompt he tells me:
"\tmp\mach_kernelCLAIM failed".
What does this mean? How is it possible that the installation process
fails completely when it nearly worked in the first place?

Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance,

Nils
