Hi again,
Well, after quite some fiddling, I now have my Realtek card
recognised & working - the solution was to switch the built-in Ethernet off
in the Network prefs pane - after that, it came good - hope this helps
someone else.
I'm what you might call quite stunned by the performance of 10.2.1
& it's stability on this unsupported machine.
