Just a lil warning so you guys don't have the momentary panic I had yesterday.
System in question: 7200 with 7300 mobo and ps Sonnet G3 450/1M 384 Megs of RAM 16 Meg Rage Orion Video 2 internal SCSI drives on faster internal bus ADB Keyboard, Logitech USB Optical Mouse Ok 10.2.4 fixed a video slowdown I'd had since upgrading from 10.1.5 and since it had I decided to try Quake 3 in X on it... I've long been a UT fan but found Q3 real cheap the other day so picked it up to try.... Rebooted into 9.2.2 (installed using the OS9 helper app) installed Quake 3 then ran Xpostfacto to switch back into X.... and no dice... said it was missing something... can't remember what exactly... but it did the same thing on every carbon app I have, Photoshop 7, Illustrator 10, Freehand 10. So after swearing and figuring I was going to have to wipe 10 and reinstall Jaguar then all the updates again I tried downloading the newest version of XpostFacto still no luck... then just on a whim I tried just using the startup disk control panel and after hanging for a long time and a bunch of smacking the command control delete it rebooted into X. Now I don't reboot into 9 at home very often anymore... I only do it at work to use my old scanners so I'm not sure if the way Xpostfacto changed sometime ago on me and I didn't realize it..... last I remembered it told you not to use the startup disk control panel and to always use it to reboot into X and thats what I always had done.... before 10.2.4 So perhaps this was just a fluke with me.... or perhaps I just got lucky getting back into X... in any case be careful, I won't be rebooting into 9 any time soon... Oh by the way never could get the X version of Quake 3 to work with my system anyways so I'll just stick with UT.
