I've been unable to get a machine running 10.2.4 to connect or discover
a machine running Windows 98. It had been able to do it before if I
typed the IP address in directly (it wouldn't discover the workgroup or
machine in its own). After reinstalling Win98, now it won't connect
directly even. I know that the Windows box is configured right and
working correctly because my other 10.2.4 machine connects without a
hitch.

As I think back, I don't think that it ever did connect using SMB. The
original install I had on the PC also had a copy of PC-Mac LAN on it.

The only difference in the Macs are that one has the extra BSD
subsystem installed the the one not working doesn't. Would that affect
SMB ability?
