Funny story: I was in my local thrift store when I came across Mac OS X server (the version before the regular Mac OS X came out). It was going for $5. I even asked the cashier if they mistakenly priced it, thinking it was $15 or $50, but they said $5. At the time it wouldn't run on my Mac, so I sold it on ebay which someone bought for $75 (not my reserve price, just the price they were willing to pay). :-)

There's 2 large salvation army thrift (junk) stores with in a mile or so from me and I make regular visits in my travels. I've found lots of great deals there before on mac stuff but the best was the rev.B G3 Dt with ram and a 6 gig drive for $10! keyboard, mouse and a couple of mics included. Took it home, powered it up and it booted into 9.2.2 with no problems. Still use it. I've sold some of the stuff off on the swap list as well, but only after making sure it works first. And then there's the lady who buys used shoes from the S A and sells them on ebay for a healthy profit - rumor has it, she does quite well for herself.
