Loss of sound

I am running jaguar on my 9500 with an xlr8 g3 400 upgrade. I went 
directly from 9.1 to 10.2 and then to 10.2.6 with my only problem being 
the "within the first 8 gig" rule because I am using a vst ide 
controller. Anyway, the installation was a breeze after I complied and 
am enjoying jaguar immensely.
I do have one problem: my sound goes out intermittently for no apparent 
reason and stays inoperable for long periods. I have the latest 
versions of itunes and quicktime. Could either be causing the problem?
Any suggestions are welcomed.
