Everything reverts to normal after I log out/in.
This all started when I moved my boot partition from a [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tempo ATA100 to an [EMAIL PROTECTED] SCSI.
It also seems that via cold-boot the Mac starts to boot much quicker into 10.2.6 via the SCSI disk than via the ATA disk or into 9.1 via SCSI. I suspect the intial cold-boot memory test is omitted if I cold-boot into 10.2.6 via SCSI.
I have zapped PRAM via cold-boot and I also tried to turn off 10.2.6's User interface sound effects and Volume keys feedback via the Sound panel, but the problem persists.
Has anyone else experienced this weird problem? Is there something else I should try to stop this minor annoyance?
(I'd rather boot into X via SCSI because I can't cold-boot via Sonnet Tempo ATA100 with the XLR8 upgrade card. Sonnet told me that this is a limitation of the XLR8 card which only supports warm-boot into X via Tempo ATA100).
