Sounds like a good box.

If you want to improve the video (say, to get Quartz Extreme) the Radeon 9000 AGP looks like good value from here in the UK. Much cheaper than the more elaborate nVidia cards, and still compatible with Sawtooth AGP.

I f you want to add a big IDE HDD, you can screw it into the brackets at the bottom of the case. There's the usual mystique about juggling the cables, setting master/slave on the drives, and so on, but nothing that someone who's built your previous rig couldn't handle. Note that if this is your first experience with IDE/ATA drives, some of the rules of cabling are a bit different from SCSI.

Thanks to all that replied to my request for opinions. I purchased a G4/
450 Sawtooth with 256MB RAM, 20 MB HD, 128 Rage Pro AGP Video, DVD-RAM,
ZIP-100 and mouse/keyboard for $455 on ebay plus 25.00 shipping. I will
add another 512MB RAM and I should be good with Panther.

Congratulations! These machines are a very good and cost-effective upgrade from our "old-world" machines. I have a "B&W G4" (G4/500 upgraded CPU) with 512 megs, Radeon 7000 video and ATA/66 drives and it's very nice!

I will be selling a 9600/300 upgraded with a Sonnet G3/500 and 640 MB
RAM, with (3) 9GB UW SCSI drives.

Yeah, I thought about selling my S900 (G4/450, 688 megs, 36, 18 and 9 Gig SCSI drives, Radeon 7000 video), but it's just more fun to have 2 OS X boxes!
