If you get another drive and move your video work to it Then you can 
wipe the main drive and reinstall. You are correct about the ATA; If it 
worked it works. No telling what has gone wrong with the current system; 
It would seem to be a major problem. When you get a new drive in and 
save your files you could run Norton and Disk Warrior from the new drive 
to get an idea of what went wrong.
