a while ago I complained about not being able to install Panther Server on a rev. A Beige G3 (233 MHz). It would not install, would do kernel panics you name it. I thought that the problem lies in Xpostfacto alpha v.16 itself (since it is an "alpha"). So I put the Beige to an eternal OS 9 use. Recently I acquired a Beige G3 266 MHz. Out of sheer curiosity I put the exact same RAM into it and the same HDD I wanted to install it on. I was surprised that the installation went smoothly and now I'm a happy camper.
My question is - how is the Beige G3 233 MHz (rev. A) so much different from the 266 MHz version as to allow me to install 10.3 server there? Has anyone else had similar experiences? I mean the technical specifications are nearly identical (except the CPU speed).
Regards, Boris
