good morning listers-

This is a follow up to a thread I opened up about a month ago which started like this:

Yesterday I installed Panther (upgraded from 10.2.8). I was successful with the first
disc- I used XpostFacto, which is really cleverly improved, and two things happened.
On the restart, at the conclusion of the install I got hung up with the gray screen
w/gray apple. I tried to restart a couple of times and then figured the start up might
just want a lot of time...I left it for a couple of hours. When I came back it was
still hung. ...snip

People responded with several ideas and Will said that installing over Jag on the S900
was not always successful- reformat the drive and re-install. My drive being an 80 GB
with 4 partitions did not make that a desirable solution. For several weeks, on and
off, I tried all other suggestions and nothing worked... until yesterday. It dawned on
me (it took long enough, it must have been an Arctic night) to put the "Panthered"
Jaguar System folder into the trash, which I did. I reinstalled Panther and the
install even called for the second disk and... it has been just one day so far but I'm
humming along with 10.3.3-- I downloaded the current upgrade-- and it looks solid and
great. So, to anyone else with a similar problem, here's another possible solution.
Thank you all again for your help.
