Hey Jake,
Now this is way off topic so apologies. I have Formac Card into my 9600 g3/300 and when my lovely wife let me but a G5 I found out that as I got the 1.8 with PCIx that the Formac card won't work as it is not a universal PCI card. USB solutions here in Australia are expensive, but windows cards are dirt cheap.
So I guess box is beefy enough ;-)
hi simon,
we used to have a 8500av which had video capture on a 'personality' board. you could capture really jerky video about the size of a postage stamp! the other problem was it had a 1gig hd so not enough room.
i think the major problem was the processor speed so it depends what machine your running on?
if it's relatively beefy, i'd suggest dumping the windows tv cards and plum for a 'my video' usb tv in:

seen one of these plugged into a g3 imac capturing 640x480 with sound at 25fps - not bad. at 60 (in the uk) it's a snip and a lot less hassle than trying to get a windows card to work.
hth,
jake
Hi All,
Perhaps a little off topic so if people object please message me direct.
HAs anyone used tried or had success with any of the generic windows tuner cards out there? Both free to air and satellite version. If so what software did you have sucess with under OS X.
Reason I thought I would try here first is that we are all making things work in our older boxes that Apple et al said couldn't be done.
Cheers and thanks
