True, but I was after Quartz Extreme and the consequent offloading of work from the CPU...
Quartz Extreme is not supported thru PCI slots and that's all you have in a Beige. If you have a Rev. B or C Beige, your video is already decent and you will get a much bigger boost in speed from that CPU upgrade. If you have a Rev. A Beige, then get a $32 used PCI Rage128 from Baucom Computers <http://baucomcomputers.com/>. It is the best cheap/speed video option for all Beige Macs.

Panther is noticeably faster on *all* Macs, even my oldest ones (PowerMac 7600 G3/275). Stay with it if you have it.
