Ran 10.3.x very successfully on an 8500 for quite some time, however it suffered a SCSI problem and didn't want to work properly. I picked up a cheap PM 9600 since I've always wanted some of that six-slot 12-DIMM goodness and got it up and running Mac OS 9.1 fine. Swapped the 10.3.8 drive over to it, but found it wouldn't boot by itself with XPF 3 or the latest alpha. Just got the gray Apple screen. Wasn't too surprised, different machine and all that, so went ahead to reinstall. With the TwinTurbo video card, it sticks at the text boot and never enters graphics mode. The only error I see is something about the NDRV being too old. I tried swapping in the Voodoo3 I used in the 8500 and it does go to a graphics mode, but it appears to be about 2 colors. These are the only PCI cards I have for Mac, I had been using the on-board video of the 8500. In some googling I found some references to the TwinTurbo card not working for OS X, but then I'd also found some people who said it did. Anybody got anything definitive?
Thanks! Scott
