Then that much is resolved: Tiger will NOT run (as Panther will not) on ancient macines with ROMs in rune script (not with FireWire as part of the as-sold system). Such as the Gossamer. That's when XPF will come to the rescue, as it did with Panther. I (we) hope. Panther is a bit on the heavy side for a Gossamer, althought when I get the time & energy to give it more diskspace for VM & itself things ought to go a bit better. And there's always a processor upgrade. Anybody have any experience with G4 (various speeds) for gray G3's & OSX (Panther)?

Tiger is only *supported* on New World Macs with built-in FireWire,
which means the installer won't run on "unsupported" Macs without some
help, from XPostFacto for example. It remains to be seen what kind of
hardware compatibility issues may rear their ugly heads on G3 upgraded
Old World Power Macs and/or the Beige G3's. I'd guess that most PCI
Power Macs will soon be able to run it - but to what end and how
practical that might be is another question.

No. the presence or absence of FW doesn't have anything to do with it;=20=

it's the ROM versions that came with the addition of FW to the mac=20
that's important. Adding a FW card doesn't change the ROM, hence, any=20
mac not on the list they show needs XPF to load Tiger.

May I also point out that that was the most inane discussion of legal=20
issues by complete amateurs I've ever witnessed.

Trust me folks, if ever you get into a legal jam, do not attempt to=20
defend yourselves....you will certainly have a fool for a client.

on the other hand, very succint and useful point about FW and ROM=20
versions. thank you.
