I was just speaking with someone that knows the business and was told the processor used will probably be the Itanium processor which is a 32 bit processor based on the DEC-Alpha chip..

I think it was the fact that IBM hasn't been able to produce a G5 cool enough to run in a laptop that is the problem. The G5 is doing great at keeping up and something faster than Intel's chips. But they run very hot! That's why the lower end and laptops will convert first. The G5 is fine for the high end and high horsepower macs. In fact, IBM has Intel in its laptops but uses the PPC in its servers. Apple could try that. I wonder if Intel will integrate the Altivec for Apple. It will only be a matter of time before someone writes a hack (maybe not from this list) so that OSX can run on a generic PC. I probably wouldn't buy one new and do it ... but I have used PC (that is much newer than my 7300) my employer gave that is sitting there collecting dust ... I'd be willing to try a hack and load OSX 10.5 on it. :) Larry --- Bruce Johnson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > On Jun 7, 2005, at 8:10 AM, Dan Stewart wrote: > > > Um, actually, not really.
