Hi John
The answer is no. You'll need some other pieces of software.
A DVD movie will usually come in somewhere between 7 and 9 gigs. A
blank DVD will nominally hold 4.7 gigs, but a bit less in reality.
You need three things:
MacTheRipper Freeware, available from VersionTracker. This
will strip out all the copy protection etc, but will give you a Video
TS file of the same size as the original.
DVD2oneX Shareware, again available from
VersionTracker. This will shrink the file down to a size which will
fit on to a blank DVD.
Toast Titanium The obvious final stage.
Let me know if you want to proceed. A pal of mine wrote a few
guidance notes on the whole process.
Regards
David

i have a relatively new dual 1.8 G5, which i use primarily for
scientific computations. it came with 10.3.7 installed, and the
complete set of applications from apple (iDVD, iMovie, iPhoto,
etc). i am wondering if it is possible to burn a copy a
commercial DVD (copy protected movie) using only these applications
and/or the disk utility, or is it necessary to purchase a third
party app? like Toast?
can anyone help? point me to some shareware, maybe?
TIA,
john
