I nformation about Visions in the Nunnery 2008 Date : June 6th - June 15th 2008 Visions in the Nunnery is an annual event that showcases some of the most exciting British and International artists who are pushing the elements of film, video and moving image practice. It is also an opportunity for artists and audiences to engage with contemporary moving image work both visually and through critical debate. Visions in the Nunnery has been running successfully for seven years as an open submission event. Following on from its success and ever growing popularity Visions in the Nunnery 2008 will be expanding into a programme of high quality contemporary moving image events that will showcase innovative and engaging work by both emerging and established artists. This new and exciting programme will include: * the International Open Submission, * a number of profiled curated events, talks and forums and * participatory elements working with young people and the community. Last years International Open Submission was very popular with over 600 entries being sent in from all over the world. This event takes a very fresh and exciting slice of contemporary moving image work and creates a critical platform where artists and audiences can come together for the enjoyment of contemporary moving image. International Open Submission How to apply: Send in no more than three works that have been made within the last two years. The work should be no longer than 10 minutes in length (although some exceptions may be made if the work is particularly interesting). Emphasis is placed upon encouraging artists to submit work that has been made within the last two years of their practice and that is compelling and art form committed. All entries will be selected purely on the merit and quality of the work. What we're looking for: New and compelling work; the work selected will be either projected or be monitor based. Please submit no more than three works on DVD or DV tape, PAL format. Please send a separate application form for each work submitted and a short up to date CV. Deadline for application 31st March 2008 (by post only no hand delivery accepted) If you do not hear from us by 21th April 2008, your application will not have been chosen. Please note that this, in no way reflects your submission in particular, as the final selection will be based on the emerging theme and suitability within the programme of the screened show reel. Criteria: * Be artists' film, video / moving image * Be of a contemporary nature and approach * Be of good quality- interesting, compelling, and art form committed * Be no more than two years old * Be in DVD format or DV tape when submitted Showing of work: If selected by the panel, your work will be shown at Visions in the Nunnery from Friday June 6th - Sunday June 15th 2008. You will also be encouraged to attend the programmed events, because discussion about the work is an integral part of it. Visions in the Nunnery may use submitted and accepted work as part of its publicity to increase visions in the nunnery's and the artist's profile for the event / future events.
