I have the following DNS record: example.com, MX, mail.example.com …then… mail.example.com, A, 192.168.1.1
Velda is right, so follow her advice. =)
This works but would it be more proper to have the "mail.example.com" record be a CNAME?
From what I have learned from DNS gurus that I hang out with is that CNAME's should not be used unless necessary, which they are in certain cases. When in doubt, make it an A record.
