the ability to write clearly and well is a critical skill for all but  
the most grunt-level coders. I write proposals, problem analyses, and  
correspond with clients daily via email. If your writing is at a 6th- 
grade level, you're not going to have much luck getting a 5- or 6- 
figure proposal accepted.
