I considered myself a Windows fan for ages but jumped in to OS X with a
MacBook Pro in Jan 2012 (see I even know the date). I would never ever go
back. Any of the retina models
<http://store.apple.com/us/buy-mac/macbook-pro> are great these
days--plenty of power and decent battery life (they claim 10 hours but I
get about 4 hours worth of development on the 15-inch model).

As far as convincing employers on the price, I argue that the increased
work productivity far outweighs the additional cost compared to a PC laptop.

So basically, get a MacBook Pro Retina with whatever screen size you like
best. I haven't tried myself but I imagine OS X won't break a sweat with 3
VMs running. I also recommend getting an Apple Thunderbolt Display, if, for
no other reason than the colors are truer than any monitor I've seen.
Accurate color is so important in Web Dev.
