*Linux System Administrator*

*JOB DESCRIPTION:*
Individual selected will be responsible for providing support as a LINUX
System Analyst. The contractor will work with a team of software developers
and system administrators supporting to assist with implementation and
documentation of LINUX servers hosting Sortation applications. Potential
contractor should possess good problem solving skills, excellent
communications skills, both oral and written, a desire to learn new
technologies, and a proven ability to work in a team oriented environment.
*Major responsibilities include:*
• Install, configure and document LINUX servers hosting mission critical
sortation application systems.
• Installing and upgrading operating systems, firmware, failed hardware and
system support software HP Proliant Servers and Storage systems.
• Troubleshooting critical hardware and software issues and other day-to-day
user trouble tickets.
• Perform monitoring of systems, performance and capacity planning. Report
on key metrics governing the operation of all systems.
• Create and maintain documentation for servers and storage environments.
• Support and configuration of fiber attached storage
Other responsibilities include:
• Must work closely with developers to create solutions based on business
requirements.
• Maintain high customer service standards in dealing with and responding to
customer issues and questions
• Must have good trouble shooting skills and the ability to work with others
in a fast-paced environment
*JOB REQUIREMENTS:*
4+ years experience with LINUX.
System Administrator
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of guiding users
through the execution of basic to intermediate system functions, ability to
write intricate system and user
documentation. Ability to resolve issues quickly, able to
identify tasks which should be automated and then write tools to automate
them.
• Understands interprocess communication, devices and device drivers
• Solid understanding of networking and distributed computing environments
including routing, client/server programming.
• Write scripts in an administrative language (Shell, Perl)
• Familiar with UNIX/LINUX administration tools and tasks
• In depth understanding of the function of the LINUX operating system
• Configure, test and trouble shoot all attached devices (serial and
Ethernet, Storage)
*Preferred Requirement:* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information
Science, and Information Technology.
