Our environment is largely UNIX based so we expect a strong knowledge of
UNIX command-line skills. We are a heavy Oracle SQL shop, so PL/SQL skills
are also very important *(strong MS SQL experience may also satisfy this
need).* For application development and testing, we largely use Java
solutions, so experience writing and debugging Java are quite useful (some
high volume systems at our client are written in C++ so that is also a good
skill set). *We utilize Selenium and SOAPUI for test automation, and the
test code is written in Java.* Our complex distributed platform consists
of both proprietary software developed in Java, C++, Shell Scripts, PL/SQL
packages all running in a Unix environment (Solaris, Linux, and AIX) and
COTS application integrations. We generally seek highly technical QA
engineers with some test automation experience using open source tools like
Selenium and TestNG with Java,
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties
may be assigned:*
- Executes and tracks testing on assigned our client proprietary
products, including new products and modifications to existing systems.
- Develops and verifies testing documentation, including test plans,
estimates scope and work effort, procedures, test scripts, test results and
hardware/software installation and set-up instructions.
- Performs evaluations and audits of software documentation and software
processes associated with products under test.
- Establishes and maintain structured testing methodology and
environments.
- Will respond to inquiries from users and technical support regarding
functions and operations of software programs.
- Identifies process improvements, error trends and/or the root causes
and makes recommendations for remedies to colleagues and management.
- Presents data to and works with non-technical our clients
cross-functional team members.
- Projects as assigned based on business needs.
*Education and/or Experience
*
- B.S. degree required preferably in information technology, computer
science or related (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- 5 – 7 years’ related experience in software quality assurance testing
methodology
*Computer Skills*
- Quality Assurance testing techniques used to test software
applications (test suites and scripts), anomaly reporting, software
analysis, automated software test packages (Selenium), functional and
system service testing, “black box” and “white box” testing techniques, and
software development data validation functional and system service testing.
- Advanced level knowledge of *Unix, SQL Scripting, Shell Scripting,
PLSQL and relational databases (Oracle or similar)*
- Microsoft Office Professional and Windows PC environment
- Competency in operating systems knowledge and window servers.
- Internet browser knowledge – understanding of file caches, advanced
knowledge of browser configuration.
- Experience working with defect tracking tools* (StarTeam, Bugzilla, HP
Quality Center, etc.) *
- *Database knowledge: Oracle database & PL/SQL skills Software
development knowledge including structured programming languages (Visual
Basic, C++, Java, Java Scripting, etc.), service oriented architecture
(SOA), distributed architectures, and object oriented architecture.*
*Other Skills and Abilities
*
- Knowledge of managed care terminology, pharmaceutical and medical
information commonly reported through product applications is strongly
preferred.
- Must have good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
Must have the proven ability to develop and maintain working relationships
across departments
