Job Description

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES:
• Manage the technical development of an Ellucian Luminis web portal 
interfacing 
with the Banner Student Information System and other applications. 
• Create custom portlets and enhance portlet development, such as a “feedback 
portlet”, “a search portlet” and “a help portlet”. 
• Implement analytics in the portal. 
• Cross-train internal staff on Luminis or Liferay. 
• Assist with Load Balancer issues as well as any other system enhancements. 

• Participate in the review of business processes; make recommendations for 
enhancements. 
• Complete tasks as assigned to support the implementation of new technologies. 

• Participate in fit-gap and prototyping sessions, configuring systems, testing 
configurations. 
• Implement specifications for the maintenance and enhancement of student 
information 
systems and functional technologies. 
• Analyze data to ensure accurate reporting. 
• Work with the OneMontclair Project Team to identify application requirements. 

• Train MSU staff and create and update training documentation in the use of 
various technologies. 
• Implement Single Sign On/Single Log Off integration with Banner and 
non-Banner 
systems, including PeopleSoft and WorkDay, creating a seamless environment 
for a multitude of diverse systems. 
• Troubleshoot and analyze system issues, including thinking 'outside' the 
box to develop and test various business process scenarios. 
• Evaluate the need for and appropriately recommend future system enhancements 
and additional functionality. 
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or 
related 
area, or equivalent work experience in the information systems field. 
• At least 5 years’ experience implementing or supporting a Web Portal platform 
comparable in features and maturity to the Ellucian Luminis Portal (such as 
Luminis, Liferay, SharePoint, Uportal, etc). 
• Experience working in an information systems field, including resolving 
complex 
software and hardware issues and understanding of database structure, 
interaction, 
and connectivity. 
• Experience working with Unix command-line utilities. 
• Unix system services, find, start, and stop processes, and manage files and 
users. 
• Knowledge of web applications development. 
• Knowledge of Java. 
• Database connectivity using a programming language such as Java. 
• Able to troubleshoot simple network and connectivity scenarios. 
• Must have excellent technical skills and must be able to work with a diverse 
project team consisting of resources from all parts of the organization (both 
IT & Business). 
• Excellent project/time management skills required. 
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills. 
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities. 
• Self-motivated and able to perform with minimal supervision. 
• Strong data mining and analysis skills using SQL or similar software tools. 

• 5+ years of technical experience. 
• 3+ years of technical project coordination experience. 
• Strong familiarity and experience with Software Development Life Cycle and/or 

• Technical Project Management (traditional Requirements, Design, Code, Test, 
Deploy) in an Agile environment. 
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Experience delivering a web portal using Ellucian’s Luminis or other LifeRay 
software platform. 
• Extensive knowledge of the Luminis server’s operating system, Red Hat Linux. 

• Experience delivering Higher Education systems. 
• Experience working with the Banner Student system including experience with 
virtualized server environments, databases, triggers, Oracle forms. 
• Ability to backup and restore server components. 
• Experience working with networking and Web-browser technologies. 
• Experience scripting and/or scheduling tasks. 
• Able to read and comprehend simple scripting. 
• Knowledge of XML, HTML authoring and Web server management tasks. 
• Knowledge of PL/SQL (database queries, basic SQL coding), Oracle 
architecture, 
Oracle development, Banner APIs. 
• Experience with 3rd party systems including TouchNet, 25Live, Evisions, 
CourseLeaf, 
Cognos. 
• Knowledge of Enterprise Service Bus technology, such as MuleSoft.
