*Skills Needed:*

·         6+ years of software development experience

·         Hands on development experience with the following technologies /
environments:

·         Java and J2EE standards including Servlets, JSP, JSTL, EJB, JMS,
JAX-WS, JavaMail

·         Strong knowledge of XML, JAXB, DOM and SAX

·         Knowledge of REST and Resource Oriented Architectures.

·         Knowledge of DTD and XSD

·         Subversion

·         Struts 1.x, Hibernate, Spring

·         JBoss, Apache Tomcat

·         Internet standards such as HTTP, XML, SOAP, SMTP, Web Services

·         Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server

·         Operating Systems including Microsoft Windows
2000/XP/2003/Vista/7 and Linux

·         General network knowledge

·         Data modeling and database design

·         Design patterns / Software modeling.

·         Object-oriented design and programming.

·         Highly scalable and available system design

·         System security for internet, intranet, and extranet

·         Application deployment for internet, intranet, and extranet

·         SQL / query including adequate performances

·         Strong working knowledge of transactions

·         Insurance industry experience / knowledge a plus



Specific Duties:

*Software Development – 30%*

·         Develop and maintain complex software components / systems in
compliance with department standards

·         Implement approved system architecture; provide feedback during
associated discussions / reviews

·         Unit test all software changes; automate wherever possible.

·         Request / perform code reviews.

·         Adhere to Configuration Management processes



*Application Design – 30%*

·         Transform business requirements into efficient and effective
designs, built upon approved system architectures, addressing needs such as
scalability, recoverability, security, and maintainability.

·         Develop and maintain comprehensive technical design
documentation; including but not limited to software system architecture,
high-level design, detailed design, database design, class diagrams,
physical & deployment diagrams, etc.

·         Coordinate and lead the review and approval of design
documentation



*Sr Programmer Analyst Specific – 20%*

·         Mentor development team members as needed

·         Promote an environment where all Application Development
personnel can work in harmony during all phases of system development

·         Promote software development process improvements

·         Lead and/or perform research of new tools, technologies, or
software system opportunities that will help achieve corporate goals



*Project Specific - 10%*

·         Provide tasks, development estimates, and regular status to
Project Manager, include Enterprise Architect & Software Development Manager

·         Participate in business analysis, requirements gathering or
clarification.



*IT Team Support – 10%*

·         Support QA test efforts (integration, system, load)

·         Technical Subject Matter Expert for products of ownership;
maintain a strong understanding of business use

·         Provide support to Technical Services
