Job Title: Big Data DBA Duration: 1+ years Contract Location: Irvine/San Antonio, CA Job Description: Big Data DBA (Microsoft Analytics Platform System (APS), PDW (Parallel Datawarehouse), Hadoop Insight) Operations and Support Services (OSS) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Database Administration Service Transition team. This individual will be responsible for delivering business capability utilizing CGs strategic database platforms Microsoft Analytics Platform System (APS) and MS SQL Server. Required Skills and Experience: Minimum of 4 years experience in administrating Microsoft Analytics Platform System (APS), Parallel Datawarehouse (PDW), and HDInsight. Minimum of 4 years experience of Microsoft SQLServer database administration. Extensive experience in database design, performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning, database backup and recovery, SQL statement tuning, troubleshooting, distribution and partitioning strategy, and shell scripting. Microsoft Analytics Platform System (APS) HDInsight Experience with Hadoop command line utilities Experience with other Hadoop distributions such as Hortonworks or Cloudera on Linux Working knowledge of Java, HiveQL, Pig Latin, and MapReduce Microsoft Parallel Data Warehouse (PDW) Experience with Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) databases such as Microsoft PDW Experience with bulk load tools such as DWLoader Experience tuning large/complex SQL queries Experience creating physical data models for data warehousing Experience with Change Data Capture (CDC) data modeling approaches Experience with statistics collection and table maintenance on MPP platforms Creating Polybase tables as needed Move data from PDW to Hadoop archive Manage alerts from PDW and Hadoop Manage file compression, retention, proactive clean-ups, automation of repetitive PDW and Hadoop maintenance tasks Develop, monitor, and maintain workload management with application Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) Experience with orchestrating complex and conditional workflows Hadoop and SSIS job deployment and maintenance Experience processing a variety of data formats (delimited, fixed width, multiple record types) Experience with other, environment level tools: Source Code Management tools such as Perforce, Team Foundation Server, Git, and ClearCase Scheduling tools such as Autosys and SQL Server Agent jobs Languages T-SQL , Powershell, C# Desired Skills and Experience: HDInsight on Windows Azure can also be considered Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
